Code: 6XUV00

A classic very high gloss clear marine varnish formulated with special oils providing excellent flow and brushability. Specifically recommended for application on marine plywood and resinous tropical wood with outstanding adhesion on a previously well cleaned substrate (e.g. teak, iroko). Performs a high build film of extreme gloss with long lasting resistance even in tropical environment. Applied on wooden boats and wooden parts designed for the boating industry.

SURFACE PREPARATION AND COATING SYSTEM

Bare Wood.
The surface should be clean and dry, sandpapered and dusted off. Apply a first coat of TROPICAL UV varnish onto bare wood, widely diluted (50-70% or more depending on wood absorption) in order to allow the varnish to penetrate into the wood substrate.
(As an alternative, one coat of POLIGLASS two-component varnish - diluted 50-100% with Thinner 203 - depending on wood absorption - can be applied; care should be taken in order to keep the woodgrain open to enable the application of the subsequent coats of TROPICAL UV).
Overcoat then with 4-5 coats of TROPICAL UV to obtain a high quality gloss finish, paying attention not to exceed the recommended thickness for each coat and allowing the required recoat ime between coats.

Previously Varnished Wood.
-If the old varnish is in poor conditions, loose or powdery, it should be mechanically removed. Clean the surface well and follow application directions as per bare wood.
-If the old varnish is in good condition of adhesion to the substrate, showing no cracks or bubbles, and it only needs a topcoat, clean, degrease and sandpaper the surface with medium-fine abrasive paper. Then apply 2-3 coats of TROPICAL UV varnish to obtain a high quality gloss finish, paying attention not to exceed the recommended thickness for each coat and allowing the required recoat time between coats.
