SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Bare Wood. The surface should be clean and dry, sandpapered and dusted off. Apply a first coat of SUPERWIND onto bare wood, highly diluted up to 50-70% (depending on wood absorption) in order to allow the varnish to sink into the wood substrate. As a clear primer alternative, one coat of POLIGLASS two-component varnish diluted 50-100% (depending on wood absorption) with Thinner 203 can be applied; care should be taken in order to maintain the grain of the wood open so to enable the application of subsequent coats of SUPERWIND LUCIDA varnish. Overcoat then with 4-5 coats of SUPERWIND LUCIDA, allowing the required waiting time between coats.
Previously Varnished Wood.
- If the old paint is in poor conditions, loose or powdery, it should be mechanically removed. Clean the surface well and follow application directions as per bare wood.
- If the old paint is in good condition of adhesion and it only needs a topcoat because it is dull or dirty but with the underneath coatings still well fixed to the substrate (with no cracks or bubbles), clean, degrease and sandpaper with medium-fine abrasive paper and apply 2-3 coats of SUPERWIND LUCIDA varnish, allowing the required waiting time between coats.
